  I have been deeply disappointed with Montauk. A few months ago, I moved to Victoria from Toronto after retiring. I know, a bit of a cliche. I purchased a custom Montauk sofa in December to be delivered 12 weeks later, which I anticipated. I was very clear that I wanted a comfortable, sturdy couch that would also look modern and after a couple of visits to the showroom, selected the Stanley in a linen look fabric. I wanted quality and wanted to support a Canadian company.
  The sofa arrived more or less when promised but sadly was not fully upholstered when it arrived and the poor delivery man was clearly unable to complete it. The Vancouver store came to the rescue and found a local upholsterer to fix it. Looks OK, but not awesome.
  Subsequently, due to the size and weight of the base and back cushions, they have become misshapen and don't properly fill the cases and are so heavy, I can't pound them into shape. As a result, after about six weeks, the sofa looks awful and I can't imagine what it will look like in 5-10 years. For $9,000, I expected much more. Should have gone for a sofa from Crate and Barrel for half the price! Very disappointing.

  Spent some time checking out the lovely wares. I'm [in] the market for a sofa and (2) chairs. The mature woman at the counter spent her time talking to herself aloud (not joking), and going to the back to talk to the other associate. After 15 minuted in there, sitting on things, feeling the fabric, I have to say I was disappointed - I was kind of excited to see this stuff in person - after looking online, and the products look great - I just can't spend this kind of money with someone who treats people this way.
